Zip Security has launched AI Visibility, a new module, free for every existing customer, that gives business and security leaders one view of every AI tool reaching their organization: every login, OAuth grant, browser extension, and app on a managed device, and what company data each one can touch. It was announced alongside the AI Visibility Summit on August 5, 2026.

Your team is moving faster than ever, and AI is a big reason why. People are wiring it into everything: drafting in seconds, automating the tedious parts of the job, shipping things that used to take a team weeks. But most security teams can't see where any of it is happening, and that blind spot is exactly what AI visibility closes.

What is AI visibility?

For security and business leaders, AI visibility is the ability to see every AI tool reaching your organization in one place: what employees have logged into (via OAuth), what's installed as a browser extension, and what's running as a desktop app. It goes beyond a list of tools. Real AI visibility shows you who is using each tool and what company data it can reach, and lets you flip the view to see every AI tool a single employee touches.

This is a different question from the marketing sense of the term, where "AI visibility" describes how often a brand shows up in AI-generated answers. Here, it's about governing the AI your workforce actually uses and the company data it can reach, not your brand's presence in AI search.

Why does AI visibility matter now?

AI adoption and AI governance are pulling in opposite directions. Generative AI reached 53% adoption within three years, faster than the PC or the internet, and 88% of organizations now use AI (Stanford HAI 2026 AI Index Report), yet governance reviews and a demanding regulatory environment slow sanctioned adoption to a crawl. Organizations are ready to invest in resolving that tension: Gartner projects worldwide information security spending will reach $244.2 billion in 2026, up 13.3%, with the expanding use of AI and generative AI cited as a key growth driver.

Click into any tool and see exactly who's using it and what company data it can reach, including the plain-language scopes each OAuth grant was given (for example, "Read all Drive files"). Click into any employee and see every AI tool they touch. What used to take days of digging across four different consoles is now one click, whether you're scoping a vendor agreement, cleaning up shadow IT, offboarding someone, or answering a compliance question.

Which AI tools does it detect?

Zip matches signals it already collects, across best-in-class identity, device management, and endpoint protection, against a curated, regularly updated catalog of AI vendors. It surfaces three detection channels:

  • OAuth grants (via your identity provider): the AI vendors employees have authorized to reach corporate data, and the scopes each was given.
  • Browser extensions (via browser management): AI extensions installed across your managed devices.
  • Desktop apps (via endpoint protection): AI clients running on your managed devices.

Because it's catalog-driven, the dashboard is transparent about its scope: it shows the AI tools Zip's catalog knows about, and the catalog is updated as new vendors appear.

How is Zip's AI Visibility deployed?

There's nothing new to stand up, and that's the whole point. Because Zip already runs best-in-class identity, device management, browser management, and endpoint protection across your company, the signals that reveal AI usage were already flowing through the platform. So when tech companies that already trust Zip as their security platform asked us to show them their AI footprint, we didn't have to build a new pipeline or ship another agent, we just turned it on:

  • Nothing to deploy or manage. No new agents, no proxies, no browser extensions to push, and no new admin console to learn.

And if a channel isn't connected yet (say, browser management), the dashboard shows it as "not connected" with a one-click path to turn it on, rather than silently reporting zero.

We're deliberate about this: today, AI Visibility is about seeing AI usage, not blocking it. It shows you what's in use and what data those tools can reach so you can act in your existing admin consoles; in-product enforcement (like bulk OAuth revocation and extension blocking) is on the roadmap.

It also detects AI through OAuth grants, browser extensions, and desktop apps, not through plain website visits. If someone only navigates to an AI tool in a browser tab without authorizing OAuth, installing an extension, or running a desktop app, that isn't captured today. Closing that browser-visit gap is something we're actively evaluating.

How is this different from a dedicated AI security platform or SaaS-discovery tool?
